    Reporting to: Board of Directors

    Hours: 40 hours per week (flexibility to work afternoons, evenings and weekends to meet the agencies requirements)

    Kingston Youth Shelter is accepting applications for the position of Executive Director. This is a salaried position based at 234 Brock St., Kingston, Ontario. The mission of Kingston Youth Shelter is to provide a supportive, stable environment, and the tools and life skills to help youth emerge from their immediate or ongoing housing crisis. Kingston Youth Shelter currently provides shelter/housing and programming at three locations in Kingston.

    The Executive Director is responsible for the successful leadership and management of the organization according to the strategic direction set by the Board of Directors. The Executive Director is responsible for representing the agency to both stakeholders and the greater Kingston Community.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Budget preparation and implementation
    • Human Resources
    • Program development, delivery and staffing
    • Seek, identify and develop proposals for funding opportunities
    • Community Relations
    • Facility management
    • Support the Board and its activities

    Skills / Experience/Qualifications:

    • Post-secondary education in a social service field
    • Previous supervisory experience
    • Demonstrated skills in grant and proposal writing
    • Strong relationship building skills to work with a diverse set of staff, volunteers, partners and community
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks independently with minimal supervision
    • First Aid, Suicide Intervention Training, Non-violent Crisis Intervention, WHMIS, Health and Safety Management, valid driver’s license, acceptable criminal reference check.
