    We are currently accepting applications for Mohawk Language Learner (MLL Instructor). Under the supervision of the Principal and under the direction of the classroom teacher(s), the Mohawk Language Learner (MLL) Instructor is responsible for the provision of support to students trying to acquire Mohawk language skills. The MLL Instructor supports teachers and other professional staff by instructing individuals and groups of students in an academic and/or integrated class environment, supporting social and academic integration as well as assisting the teacher with classroom management, when required. The Instructor works collaboratively within a team environment and assists the classroom teacher with the assessment of student language acquisition.

    Joining the UCDSB in an occasional capacity is a great way to gain experience for those looking to obtain a long-term occasional or permanent position with Upper Canada DSB.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Minimum two-year diploma in Social Sciences, Indigenous Studies/Service, Indigenous Family Support/Community Worker or a related field.
    • Familiarity with local Indigenous culture, tradition and language and experience working with Indigenous youth, their families and communities is required.
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
    • Previous Mohawk as a Second Language instruction is preferred.
    • Related employment or volunteer experience in teaching or social work is an asset.

    UCDSB requires your current and two most recent direct supervisors.

    Selection Process:

    Applicants selected for an interview will be invited to attend a virtual live interview via Microsoft Teams. Interviews typically include a panel of two (2) Hiring Managers.
