Part Time Residential Counsellor - Maison Baldwin House

Maison Baldwin house is a place where women who have experienced any type of abuse can come for support, information, and a safe place to stay. It is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week – women can call and/or come in at any time, day or night.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced crisis environment of a women's shelter
• Physically demanding
• Supervise activities of clients living in a communal setting
• Assess and advocate for clients needs
• Coordinate and implement the delivery of specific services within the community
• Documentation skills required to record client data in agency database
• Provide suicide and crisis intervention, resolve conflict situations,
• Liaise with other social service, community agencies and health care providers involved with clients
• Answer crisis phone line and assist callers
• Develop service plans/safety plans
• Housekeeping duties, other duties as required.
• Ability to work independently and within a team approach.
• Ability to acknowledge and respect diversity in all persons.
• Ability to maintain a safe, well-being environment for all clients.
• Awareness of Violence Against Women issues, prevention and services an asset.
• Ability to read, write and converse in both English and French is an asset.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Outlook, internet search)
• Organizational and time management skills.

Qualification/Education requirements:

• Must possess current First Aid / CPR certification,
• Adhere to the policies and procedures of the Organization.
• Must have a current Criminal reference check.
• Have a valid SIN.
•  As a condition of employment, all employees must have and provide proof of full COVID-19 immunization. Where a person is unable to vaccinate for human rights protected reasons, an accommodation may be provided.
