Child Care United of Leeds and Grenville is a not-for-profit childcare organization serving the Gananoque and Lansdowne communities for over 35 years. We strive to support the early childhood development by providing quality programs for children 6 weeks to 13 years of age.
Our Willow Tree Daycare and School Age programs within Lansdowne, ON invites applications for the position of Registered Early Childhood Educator within our Toddler and Preschool Program. Our environment promotes and fosters active learning, a sense of belonging and well-being through opportunities of social, cognitive, language and physical development.
We are currently seeking a full-time permanent Registered Early Childhood Educator to join our team. We are a community of passionate educators, committed to supporting one another to create an inclusive and inspirational environment for creative and educational environment. We are looking for candidates who are passionate about creating a safe and inclusive environment for children, as well as working in partnership with families and community resources to ensure the best outcome and learning experience for the children. This location offers a small centre atmosphere, offering care for 5 toddlers, 16 preschoolers as well as Before and After School programming for 42 children. Candidates must be able to work efficiently and collaboratively within our close-knit team.

The Role
The Early Childhood Educator collaborates with all other members of the program team to provide nurturing care and education to young children in a group setting, under the direct supervision of the Site Supervisor as well as the supervision of the Executive Director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring safety of the children in programs by providing continuous active care and supervision
- Shares in the responsibility for planning, preparing and implementing stimulating, developmentally appropriate and inclusive activities based on child observation
- Balance implementation of indoor and outdoor activities and learning opportunities
- Plan and maintain a high-quality environment that protects the health, security and well-being of the children and team
- Recognizes and responds to the needs of each child while using developmentally appropriate teaching and child behaviour management techniques
- Participates fully and consistently as a reliable team member for the children and the overall operation of the programs and centre
- Maintain regular and open communication with program team members
- Establish and maintain ongoing open communication with families regarding progress and possible concerns
- Maintain compliance with regulatory and licensing requirements including health and safety standards
- Observe and record relevant information for the children and their progress to support the ongoing development of the children and program
- Attends and participates actively in program/centre, parental or other meetings as required
- Shares responsibility for maintaining program equipment in good repair, assist with cleaning, disinfecting and minor housekeeping as required
- Knowledge and understanding of emergency procedures
Qualifications:
- Previous experience within a licensed child care centre an asset
- Experience and knowledge with “How Does Learning Happen?” (HDLH) Framework
- Early Childhood Education Diploma and registered in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
- Diploma or degree in child and youth care, recreation and leisure services, or a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers will be considered
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR – Level C Certification
- Valid Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Health Assessment and current immunizations, including TB Test
- Position available as early as December 16th, 2024
