Reporting to the Associate Director, Alumni & Donor Relations, the Development Officer, Class and Reunion Giving maintains an active portfolio of prospective donors and will assume a variety of strategic long term relationships that will maximize charitable gift revenues on a sustained annual basis. The incumbent develops and implements goals and strategies that increase philanthropic support from various audiences and enhance pipeline development in support of key funding priorities within Smith School of Business.

This position executes the alumni engagement, volunteer, and fundraising goals and strategies. This position manages relationships and fundraising efforts with current and prospective reunion-based volunteers, and builds and stewards new and existing relationships. This position also identifies, evaluates, cultivates, solicits and stewards donors for gifts and fosters long-term relationships with these donors, which support the ongoing activities and reputation of the University. What you will do

  • Facilitates the establishment and stewardship of new and existing funds, nurtures long-term relationships with existing donors and fosters ongoing philanthropic giving.
  • Develops, recommends, implements and refines integrated alumni-development short and long-term plans and strategies, and resolves problems encountered in implementation.
  • Ensures that the strategy, plans and programs reflect the program objectives.
  • Plans, organizes, implements, and monitors programs.
  • Identifies, evaluates, cultivates, solicits and stewards donors for gifts and fosters long-term relationships with these donors.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with multiple key campus organizations.
  • Pursues continuous improvement initiatives; develops and reports on metrics to demonstrate progress in portfolio.
  • Assembles and analyses data to evaluate international activities.
  • Monitors, recommends, and implements improvements to processes and systems based on accurate and timely program analysis.
  • Writes proposals for major fundraising projects and for prospective major donors.
  • Writes alumni and donor briefing notes in support of key international opportunities.
  • Assists with pre/post visit planning and follow-up including updating all contact and assessment.
  • Develops, recommends and implements strategies to combine the reunion planning process with fundraising opportunities for select classes, shared interests and other affinity groups.
  • Identifies opportunities for key classes to pursue reunion class giving projects.
  • Other duties as required in support of the department and/or unit.

Required Education

  • Four-Year Bachelor Degree or equivalent. In addition, requires trade certification, qualification, or on-going learning to remain ahead of changes in technology or emerging fields.

Required Experience

  • More than 3 years and up to and including 5 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of relationship building, fundraising and stewardship considered an asset.
  • Previous experience building relationships with donors considered an asset.
  • Experience developing and/or implementing fundraising and/or major gift plans considered an asset.
  • Experience in planning and/or managing projects considered an asset.
  • Experience in data, trend analysis and reporting considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, policies, standards and/or guidelines considered an asset.
  • Experience working with diverse populations/equity deserving groups considered an asset.
  • Experience working at a post-secondary education institution considered an asset.
  • Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.
