This is a part-time, contract position (3-4 shifts equaling up to 25 hrs/week, some weekends required) from February to October, 2025.

Kingston Destination Group (KDG) is committed to hospitality excellence as the portal to inspired visitor experiences in the Kingston 1000 Islands destination. We operate six tourism brands in downtown Kingston, Ontario: Kingston 1000 Islands Cruises / Kingston Trolley Tours / K-Pass / The Helm / Kingston Walks / Waterfront Gifts & Apparel.

As the Creative Marketing Assistant you will contribute to the ongoing efforts of the Marketing team by aiding in promoting these visitor experiences. You will create engaging content for social media, websites, email campaigns and design projects. This role requires strong creative skills in photography and videography for brand storytelling. You will also provide excellent customer service to guests and participate in other office tasks as needed.

Season: The Kingston 1000 Islands Cruises & Trolley Tours operating season begins in April and ends in October.

Qualifications:

  • Positive attitude and creative approach.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Proficient in MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro).
  • Experience in shooting, editing, exporting, and uploading digital photo and video content.
  • Experience writing and developing social media content and using scheduling tools (e.g. Hootsuite).
  • Experience writing for email marketing and using scheduling tools (e.g. Mailchimp).
  • Knowledge of WordPress or other website content management systems.
  • Familiarity with Google Ads, Google Analytics, Facebook Ads Manager.
  • Knowledge of emerging tools and software for design and editing.
  • Recent graduate or currently enrolled in Marketing, Communications, Media, or a related field.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Marketing Communications Manager with concepting and execution of creative marketing activities.
  • Collaborate with Marketing Team to develop, design and schedule creative content across multiple social media platforms. Use social scheduling/listening tools. (e.g. Hootsuite)
  • Collaborate with Marketing Team to develop/design and schedule email campaign content. (e.g. Mailchimp)
  • Collaborate with Marketing Team to develop/design content for digital ads (Google, Facebook) and traditional advertising (TV, Billboards).
  • Shoot, edit, export, and upload digital photo and video content, maintaining an organized media library.
  • Assist with graphic design projects, including developing brochures, posters, and other marketing materials using Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Use content management systems and integrated software/tools to update website content.
  • When necessary, assist with office operations, including answering phones/emails and assisting guests with reservations.
