This position case manages non-academic misconduct cases referred to the Student Conduct Office. The main purpose of the job is to mitigate risk to campus and members of the campus community by gathering information to determine roles and responsibilities in incidents of non-academic misconduct and imposing and overseeing appropriate interventions while ensuring that case management practices comply with applicable governing policies, such as the Student Code of Conduct, Policy on Sexual Misconduct and Sexual Violence Involving Students, the Harassment and Discrimination Policy, and other related policies. Occasional need for flexibility in early morning or evening work hours, to accommodate student schedules.
This position investigates and adjudicates reported cases of alleged non-academic student misconduct. This position oversees and coordinates the resolution process, including interviewing individuals and referring cases to formal proceedings. This position analyzes high risk student situations, and escalates and/or refers cases to university or community agencies. This position develops, implements, and monitors outcomes for non-academic student misconduct. This position also develops and maintains statistical reports on student misconduct cases.
What you will do
- Investigates and adjudicates reported cases of alleged non-academic student misconduct.
- Oversees and coordinates the resolution process, including interviewing individuals and referring cases to formal proceedings.
- Analyzes high risk student situations, and escalates and/or refers cases to university or community agencies.
- Provides advice, support, and referrals to students who are experiencing mental health challenges, abusive situations, and/or are participating in high risk behaviours.
- Develops, implements, and monitors outcomes for non-academic student misconduct.
- Updates and maintains documentation including findings, outcomes, tracking, and recordkeeping.
- Develops and maintains statistical reports including caseload information, types, trends, risks, sanctions, and outcomes.
- Provides subject matter expertise on the appropriate communications to be used for a wide variety of situations that involve student misconduct.
- Reviews, develops, and updates operational documents and assessment practices.
- Provides information and subject matter expertise for educational outreach programs to ensure inclusion of policies, practicies, and procedures that establish expectations and obligations for student conduct.
- Other duties as required in the support of the department and/or unit.
Required Education
- Four-Year Bachelor Degree or equivalent. In addition, requires trade certification, qualification, or on-going learning to remain ahead of changes in technology or emerging fields.
Required Experience
- More than 3 years and up to and including 5 years of experience.
- Experience in writing, interviewing, reviewing, editing and/or proofreading internal and/or external communications and documents considered an asset (e.g., social media, policy manuals, newsletters, handbooks, legal documents, forms/templates, blogs, training/reference materials, technical documents, webinars, etc.).
Required Licenses and Certifications
- Satisfactory Criminal Records Check required.
- Vulnerable Sector Screening required.
- Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.
