The Overnight Personal Support Worker delivers person-centered support services and ensures the safety of individuals at home at night. Support procedures and practices necessary to facilitate the Association’s ability to fulfill its vision and values. As part of the staff team, assist in the development, implementation, assessment and record maintenance of Individual Service Plans, behaviour management programs and supports. Ensure the health and safety of individuals by assisting with morning and night routines. Be first responder in the event of emergencies. Maintain a safe and secure environment.
Overnight activities typically include:
- Personal care, hygiene
- Meal preparation, nutrition
- Administer medication as per ISP and Agency policies, promote good health
- Check regularly through the night and provide assistance
- Act as the First Responder in the event of emergencies
- Ensure the security of the building and respond to any unusual occurrences. Log entries are expected to be read at the beginning of shift. Written documentation is to be clear, concise, and factual within all case notes, log reports and correspondence
- Ensure all interactions are respectful and align with People First Language.
- Act with consideration for the person’s cultural beliefs, interests, choices, and rights.
- Upkeep environment through regular cleaning and household chores.
- Actively participate as a team member in the development, implementation, and evaluation of supports.
Educational & Experience Requirements
- Personal Support Worker (PSW)
- Current valid Certificates – First Aid/CPR, NVCI & Valid Ontario Driver’s License & Abstract
- Experience working with adults with disabilities
- Excellent interpersonal communication
- Understands, demonstrates, and is committed to working with people adhering to the Agency’s’ “Service Values” & “Bill of Rights”
- Ability to work effectively as a team member and in collaboration with outside agencies.
