Cheese Shop / Kitchen Assistant - Back Forty Artisan Cheese

Back Forty is more than just an artisan cheese producer—we’re a farm-to-table bistro, cheese shop, and agritourism destination. Our cheese shop offers a selection of handcrafted cheeses, locally sourced goods, and a welcoming space for food lovers. With a seasonal outdoor bistro, special events, and a strong focus on quality and hospitality, we create a unique culinary experience for our guests.

We’re looking for a friendly, reliable team member to help keep our cheese shop and kitchen running smoothly! This is a fast-paced, customer-facing role, perfect for someone who enjoys working with people and taking pride in creating a welcoming environment.

The Role:

As a Cheese Shop & Kitchen Helper, you’ll play a key support role in both the cheese shop and kitchen. Your main responsibilities will include:

Kitchen Support Duties:

• Assisting with basic food prep as needed
• Clearing and cleaning tables in the bistro area
• Washing dishes and maintaining a clean, sanitary workspace
• Ensuring all areas remain tidy and organized

Cheese Shop Duties:

• Restocking cheese, merchandise, and retail displays
• Providing friendly and knowledgeable customer service
• Assisting customers with cheese selection and purchases
• Assisting behind the bar with beverage serving

Schedule & Availability:

This is a part-time, seasonal position running from June to October. You must be available on:

• Fridays & Saturdays (including long weekends)
• Exact hours to be discussed but approximately 12 – 8 pm (roughly 16 hours per week)

What We’re Looking For:

• Positive attitude and strong customer service skills
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, hands-on work environment
• Reliable, responsible, and team-oriented
• Ability to multitask between retail and kitchen duties
• Food service or dishwasher experience is an asset but not required
• Safe Food Handling Certificate and Smart Serve is a plus
