Vehicle Technicians maintain, repair, and overhaul land vehicles and related equipment to keep them in top condition. Typically, Reserve Force members work or train with their home unit for one evening per week and two weekends per month, from September to May of each year. At 21 Electronic Warfare Regiment initial training will center on common military skills followed by specific training as a mechanic. After completing basic training, additional soldier, driver and communications skills, candidates will be offered the opportunity to work on and learn about automotive systems, specialized tools, and technical and supervisor level training. Those who already possess a Red seal will be given advanced standing in that training. Those who will be beginning their automotive training with us will be eligible to challenge the Red Seal exam after a 3-5 years mix of part and full time work.

Candidates must be Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents between 16 and 53 who are prepared to undergo both physical and classroom training. Specialty training is delivered in a pattern easily matched to the availability of Post Secondary and Sr high school students. Workers in the gig economy, those whom are underemployed or are between positions have all been successful on an ongoing basis with this mixed part and full time position. Not all training must occur during summer blocks.

Successful candidates once they have completed training will be eligible to apply for positions at home or deployments abroad, may transfer to the Regular Force full time or take their skills to other positions. Information sessions are held weekly. Applicants through this website will automatically be sent additional information on the various positions and the next information sessions available. Positions at 21 EW Regiment are competitive, and candidates may not be successful in their first choice of trade. Invitations to attend an information session may also be requested from us directly.

ABOUT THE COMPANY

21 Electronic Warfare Regiment (21 EW Regt) is an integrated Reserve and Regular Force unit of the Canadian Combat Support Brigade (CCSB) whose task is to provide tactical Electronic Warfare Support to the Canadian Armed Forces deployed on international operations. The Reserve Sqn provides augmentation for both overseas deployments and tasks/training in Canada.21 Electronic Warfare Regiment is always hiring intelligent, fit, and confident men and women with an interest in dynamic and challenging training as EW specialists and support personnel. We use specialized equipment which requires a strong technical aptitude. Within their first few years of service, new members must be available to attend full-time courses during the summer (May-Aug) where technical skills are acquired for employment. We train one evening a week and one or two weekends a month from September to April. As part of a larger Regular Force unit, Reservists have greater access to training within Canada and internationally, year around, allowing more flexibility to new members in developing their military careers.
