The Trenton Care & Share Food Bank works to increase access to food in Quinte West in a way that promotes dignity, improves wellness and builds community with the vision of a community where everyone is food secure. We are hiring a Service Coordinator for a 12 month contract with the possibility for extension.
Job Summary
The Trenton Care & Share Food Bank is seeking applications for the position of Service Coordinator. The Service Coordinator will ensure the delivery of high quality, inclusive food bank services and will provide operational oversight through volunteer management support. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic leader who can deliver exceptional client care while fostering a vibrant hard working volunteer community.
Specific Responsibilities
Client Services
- Establishing accurate personal information of clients and maintaining a confidential database of this information
- Gathering high quality client feedback and using data to improve services
- Referring clients to other community based resources
- Fostering partnerships with local social service providers
- Advocating for clients by providing assistance with paperwork, education on rights, etc.
- Grant writing for appropriate funding
- Creating social media communications to keep clients informed of community events and resources
Volunteer Management
- Maintain adequate volunteer staff including recruitment, training, supervision, development and documentation
- Develop strategies to ensure the appropriate number of volunteers to meet operational needs
- Ensure health and safety policies and procedures are adhered to
- Suggest and implement improvements to the volunteer recognition program
- Regularly evaluate the volunteer program to ensure best practices are in place - identify and develop volunteer policies and procedures as necessary
Education/Experience
- Post-secondary education in Volunteer Management or Social Services is an asset
- 2+ years of experience in a people management role or a client services role
Key Competencies
- Effective communicator with excellent client service skills
- Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in providing feedback and mediation
- Strong team leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively
- Self-starter, independently driven
- Proficiency in social media and various word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software
Working Conditions
- The work is in an office/warehouse environment with occasional offsite meetings and events. Occasional weeknights and weekend hours.
