Mulberry Waldorf School is seeking part-time Assistant Teachers (Early Childhood and Grade School) and Educational Assistants for the 2025-2026 school year.
ABOUT MULBERRY:
Mulberry Waldorf School, established in 1996, offers programs for students and their parents from birth through Grade Eight. We are located within an active downtown community in beautiful and historic Kingston, with access to local parks, waterfront, conservation areas and provincial parks. Our teachers, administration, parents and a Board of Directors sustain the operations of the School.
SCOPE OF THE POSITION:
Assistant Teachers and Educational Assistants work out of Mulberry Waldorf School’s Vision and Mission and within our Governance Structure (https://www.mulberrywaldorfschool.ca/about-mulberry.html). Assistant Teachers support and work closely with the Lead Teacher to deliver the education program, supervise students, and provide educational, social, and behavioural assistance to all students, with a focus on students with learning challenges. Educational Assistants work closely with the Lead Teacher to provide support specifically to one or two students.
KEY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION:
The ideal candidates will have a passion for holistic education, and experience in Waldorf education and/or experience working with young children. We are looking for candidates with the following skills/certification:
- Waldorf Teaching Certificate and/or B.Ed. degree and/or Early Childhood Education Diploma and/or Educational Assistant Diploma
- Current Police Check, including the Vulnerable Sector Check
- Current Standard First Aid Certification
- Expertise in supporting literacy and numeracy learning
- Demonstrated ability to create a warm, gentle, and supportive environment
- Experience and confidence with positive behaviour management
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
- Strong initiative and work ethic
- Musical and artistic abilities
- Handwork skills (knitting, crocheting, hand sewing, embroidery)
COMPENSATION:
- This base salary for an Assistant Teacher is $35,320 at 100% of full time hours. Educational Assistants are paid at an hourly rate of $20.45, which includes vacation pay. The school supports professional development as well as mentoring, and tuition remission for staff children.
