As a Camp Coordinator, you will play a vital role in overseeing the planning, execution, and overall management of both summer and weekend camp programs. You will ensure the safety, well-being, and development of campers while leading a team of counselors to create an inclusive, engaging, and supportive environment. Your responsibilities will focus on program development, team leadership, and operational excellence, aligning with community priorities and promoting personal and professional growth among participants.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervision and Safety:

  • Oversee the implementation of activities during both weekend and summer camps, ensuring the physical and emotional safety of all campers and staff.
  • Monitor and address safety concerns promptly while promoting a supportive and inclusive environment that respects diversity and equity.
  • Program Development and Leadership:
  • Design, plan, and coordinate a variety of engaging activities for weekend and summer camps, including team-building exercises, arts, and STEM-related workshops, to encourage skill development and confidence among campers.
  • Develop and manage structured daily, weekly, and weekend schedules to ensure smooth program execution and alignment with camp goals.

Team Management and Collaboration:

  • Lead and supervise a team of camp counselors, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure high-quality delivery of weekend and summer camp programming.
  • Foster effective communication among counselors, campers, and parents to address concerns and provide updates on camp activities.
  • Collaborate with counselors to create innovative programs tailored to meet the needs and interests of campers and the community for both camp formats.
  • Skill Building and Inclusion:
  • Promote activities that enhance campers' academic, social, and emotional development while ensuring accessibility and engagement during weekend and summer camp sessions.
  • Champion diversity by encouraging active participation from visible minorities, racialized youth, and underrepresented groups in all camp programs.

Staff Training and Development:

  • Organize and lead staff training sessions to enhance team leadership, program delivery, and career-related skills for weekend and summer camp operations.
  • Ensure all staff members are equipped to provide an engaging and inclusive experience for campers.
  • Conflict Resolution and Behavioral Management:
  • Address conflicts and disciplinary issues among campers and staff constructively, promoting a respectful and safe environment during weekend and summer camps.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to both campers and staff as needed, fostering resilience and teamwork.

Health and Safety Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, camp policies, and regulations, including administering First Aid or CPR if necessary, across both weekend and summer camps.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment in all camp facilities and activity areas.

Community Engagement:

  • Build strong connections between the camp, community stakeholders, and local organizations by incorporating community-focused events and programs into both weekend and summer camps.
  • Highlight the camp’s contributions to community priorities, such as mental health, youth development, and social inclusion.

Administrative and Operational Support:

  • Manage administrative tasks, including scheduling, reporting, and supply inventory, to ensure both weekend and summer camps run efficiently.
  • Support the Camp Director with strategic planning and execution of additional tasks to achieve program goals across both camp formats.
