We are presently inviting applications for the position of:

  • Diversity & Inclusion Program Counsellor
  • Full-Time Position (8-week contract)
  • $19/hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and support an exciting, active program for EAFK’s summer camp program; working closely with management and the program team, the Diversity and Inclusion Counsellor specializes in supporting and fostering an environment where everyone feels they belong and their dignity, beliefs, and identity are respected.
  • Provide and create instructions, demonstrations, and communications to ensure that clients with developmental disabilities are supported to create spaces for sharing.
  • Champion a culture of inclusion within EAFK’s summer camp that acknowledges the lived experiences of people who do not fit neatly in one category or another.
  • Collaborate with Management, Coordinators, and the program team to deliver programs that align with a culture of respect and appreciation for diversity.
  • Provide evaluation and feedback on the programs.
  • Provide continuous improvements, assessments, and changes throughout the program.

Assets:

  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Standard First Aid, CPR
  • Sign language (ASL)
  • Under the legislative requirements of the French Language Services Act, French language competency is an asset.

Position Requirements:

  • An Empathetic and understanding approach to the experiences and challenges of people from different backgrounds. We are looking for individuals who are energetic, positive role models, safety-conscious, and who have a genuinely compassionate and caring nature.
  • Police Record Check - CPIC including Vulnerable Sector Screening.
  • Proof of all required doses of a COVID-19 vaccine approved by Health Canada.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with a team.
  • Strong program delivery skills.
