Position Overview

We are seeking a Sr. Linux Administrator to lead the management and optimization of our Linux-based infrastructure, supporting both internal operations and external client-facing services. This role is central to maintaining system performance, scalability, and security across our hybrid data center and cloud environment.

Reporting to the IT Team Leader, this position offers the opportunity to work on mission-critical systems that drive Canadian innovation. Salary range for this position is 66k to 95k.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a hybrid infrastructure including both on-premises data centers and public cloud resources.
  • Administer and optimize systems running Rocky Linux and Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
  • Perform advanced administration of Linux file systems, including permissions, quotas, and access controls.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts in Bash and Python to streamline system operations.
  • Ensure robust system security through firewalls, SELinux, and auditing practices.
  • Monitor system performance, conduct log analysis, and implement tuning and optimization as needed.
  • Oversee system patching, backups, and recovery planning to ensure high availability and reliability.
  • Respond to and resolve incidents, outages, and service requests in a timely and effective manner.
  • Contribute to network and infrastructure planning efforts.
  • Provide documentation and knowledge sharing across the IT team.

Required Qualifications

  • University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 3–5 years of professional experience in Linux system administration.
  • Advanced expertise of Linux file systems, scripting, system hardening, and performance tuning.
  • Proficiency in Rocky Linux and Red Hat Linux environments.
  • Strong scripting skills with Linux shell including Bash, csh, perl, php and Python.
  • Familiarity with hybrid environments and virtualization/cloud platforms (e.g., VMware, public cloud).
  • Solid grasp of Linux-based security best practices.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Terraform and AWS is a strong asset.
  • Experience supporting environments with CAD software is an asset but not required.
  • Bilingual (English/French) is an asset.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally as needed.
