Health Information Management Professional - Health PEI

This position is responsible for the coding and abstracting of Inpatient, Day Surgery and Emergency Department patient information found in the medical record, performing analysis, and contributing to the maintenance and enhancement of internal information databases.

Duties will include but not limited to:

• coding and abstracting of patient information on Inpatient, Day Surgery, and Emergency Department records using the ICD-10-CA/CCI coding;
• creating and performing coding audits;
• ensuring the medical records are completed, maintained and regulated in conformance with policies and guidelines;
• answering telephone calls and following through with requests;
• performing other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Successful completion of a recognized Health Information Management Professional diploma. Consideration may be given to individuals who are enrolled in or willing to complete the Health Information Management Professional program.
• Current member in good standing of the Canadian Health Information Management Association.
• Must be proficient working in a computerized environment that includes word processing, email, spreadsheets and databases
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills to work well with others and deal with a demanding workload
• Demonstrated organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work with minimal supervision
• Knowledge of the Health Information Act
• Knowledge of the Hospitals Act Hospital Management Regulations
• Knowledge of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPP)
• 3-5 years of coding experience
• Must have a good previous work and attendance record.

Other Qualifications:

• certification as Classification and Coding Specialist will be considered an asset
• Crystal Reports experience will be considered an asset
• minimum 2 years of experience in Health Records would be an asset
• additional relevant education and experience will be considered an asset

Details:

• Salary Range: $28.92- $31.44 per hour
• Bi-Weekly Hours: 75 hours Bi-weekly / Monday to Friday / Rotating shifts
