St. Lawrence College is currently seeking qualified Professors on a part-time basis with experience and expertise in the Industrial Electrician – Apprenticeship program.
We are seeking individuals experienced to teach in the following topic area:
ELEC 1007 Drawings, Specifications, and Standards Intermediate
Upon successful completion, the apprentice is able to navigate, use and apply drawings and specifications, prepare as-built sketches as well as explain the processes to install and maintain electric heating, HVAC systems, luminaires, wiring devices and exit and emergency lighting systems.
ELEC 1008 Motor Controls and Devices
Upon successful completion, the apprentice is able to demonstrate how to install motor control circuits, starters and controllers, demonstrate the development of ladder diagrams (power and control), demonstrate diagnostic, commissioning and troubleshooting methods for motor control circuits and components as well as explain the installation, connection and maintenance procedures for motor starters.

These positions will be primarily located at the Kingston Campus; however, occasional travel to support programs in Cornwall may be requested. Candidates may be required to teach from an online/alternate delivery format on occasion. Candidates must be available to teach Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

- Effectively use the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning to build a contemporary and evidenced based practice.
The ideal candidate will meet or exceed the following qualifications:
Qualifications
EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION / DESIGNATION:
- Education Specific to the position: A minimum of a current Red Seal Certificate of Qualification in the Trade of Industrial Electrician or Construction Electrician.
- Experience specific to the position: A minimum of 5 years of experience as an Industrial Electrician or Construction Electrician post completion of the Qualification in the Trade Certificate.
- Teaching experience using a Learning Management System and virtual meeting technology system.
- Teaching experience at the post-secondary level or experience in adult instructions techniques and practice using principles of andragogy and curriculum design experience will be required.
- A demonstrated practice supporting a diversity of learners.
- Experience participating in industry-led or community-based applied research will be an asset.
- A proven track record of life-long learning.
- A demonstrated commitment to putting “students first”.
- Candidates are requested to list all St. Lawrence College teacher training or equivalent they possess on their resume.
- A global mindset and intercultural knowledge and competence to teach in a global environment including international students is required.
- An understanding of the Ontario college system.

Salary and Terms: $80.62 – $139.88 hourly base rate. Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
