Position Summary:

Job Zone d'emploi is recruiting to fill a permanent position for an Employment Consultant - Case Manager, who will be empathetic to the challenges facing the unemployed/underemployed. To provide career and employment counselling, support, resources and information to individuals referred for assisted service. Develop a viable return to work action plan and retention plan.

Coordinated case management of service participants.

Complete all necessary forms and reports, as required by Integrated Employment Services (IES).

Employment Counselling and Career Development Knowledge

  • Demonstrates an understanding of the components of the career and employment planning process
  • Effective counselling skills, in English *French considered an asset
  • Understands and utilizes appropriate community resources
  • Ability to analyze current occupational and labour market information on a micro and macro level
  • Competence in current resume and cover letter development practices, interview skills and effective job search techniques and possesses the ability to impart this knowledge effectively to clients

 Needs Assessment and Referral

  • Able to conduct intake with clients and effectively evaluate their needs
  • Knowledge and ability in effective use of appropriate assessment tools
  • Responds effectively to client needs on a timely manner
  • Refers clients to appropriate resources in the community
  • Develops and maintains a local referral network

  Administrative

  • Proficient in use of software and systems that include: MS Office programs, desktop texting, CaseFLO, CaMS, CATS and other specialized programs and applications

Education, Training, Experience:

  • Possess a post-secondary diploma/degree in Social Sciences, preferably in the Career and Work Practitioner program, or,
  • Possess other related post-secondary diploma/degree in combination with a strong background in direct client support with the vulnerable population, experienced in client centered approaches such as; Counselling, Trauma Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, Case Management, etc
  • Possess Canadian Career Development Practitioner certification or is working toward achievement ***considered an asset
  • Possess a minimum of 1 year’s experience in direct service provision of career and employment counselling, ***considered an asset

Confidentiality:

  • Works appropriately with confidential, personal information regarding clients
  • Knowledgeable about relevant privacy legislation and internal practices to protect client privacy

Work Environment:

  • Job requires working in an office setting;
  • Neat and tidy personal appearance is required; casual business attire;
  • Thirty five hour work week; Monday to Friday, with occasional overtime in the early morning, evenings, and/or weekends;
  • Use of office equipment required: computers, software specific to programs, fax, photocopier.
