Kennel Attendant - Dragonluck Kennels

Dragonluck Kennels is a small home based Boarding and Day Care business. We are searching for an enthusiastic, dependable and dedicated kennel attendant to join our team. The individual will be looking for permanent long term employment. You will be responsible for the overall care and well-being of the animals at our facility, along with their exercise, training, feeding and general facility cleaning.. This is a physically demanding job requiring you to be able to clean kennels, observe dogs in play, walk dogs and observe any behavioural change in the pets. You will spend the majority of the time standing, lifting and bending in all weather conditions.

Kennel Duties but not limited to:

• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Monitor dogs in a social setting and walking dogs-basic grooming (bath and nails)
• Examine dogs regularly to ensure good health
• Monitor and communicate to owners of any abnormalities
• Train other team members
• Feed and administer medication for pets in our care
• Assist staff with ongoing tasks
• Able to work independently
• Maintain client relations through detailed and friendly check ins/outs
• Document daily staff notes and client charts
• Take daily pictures of the dogs and upload them to our social media pages.
• Willingness to take on extra duties outlined by kennel owner
• Post secondary education in animal care an asset.

Qualifications/Skills

• Previous professional experience in animal care
• Passion for animal care and a desire to learn new dog care and training skills
• Ability to confidently supervise dogs of all breeds, temperaments, ages and sizes
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
• Ability to perform all job duties to a high standard in a safe and responsible manner
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to be on one's feet and walking for several hours in a day
• Ability to lift dogs and items of up to 50 lbs
• Ability to work with a team

MUST HAVE OWN TRANSPORTATION. NO BUS SERVICE TO THIS LOCATION

Job Type: Permanent
Pay: From $18.00 per hour

• 9 hour shift
