Co-op Student Opportunity – Product Development Project
Northern Technical Solutions is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Co-op Student to support the development of a new etch product for aluminum anodizing. This is a hands-on role ideal for a chemistry or materials science student eager to gain real-world R&D experience in surface finishing and metal treatment technologies.
About the Role
The candidate will take an active role in running experimental trials, and refining formulations, all with the support and guidance of our experienced team. Your work will directly contribute to the innovation and optimization of a next-generation aluminum tech product.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare chemical solutions and conduct lab-scale testing to support aluminum etching research and development
- Monitor etch rates, evaluate surface appearance, and accurately record all test data
- Perform standard laboratory tasks such as titrations, solution preparation, and sample handling
- Proficient in operating microscopes and conducting microscopy analyses
- Maintain a clean, organized laboratory environment and a detailed, up-to-date lab notebook
- Support troubleshooting efforts and contribute to the preparation of technical documentation and develop control methods
Technical Skills
- Strong notetaking and documentation skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
- Hands-on lab experience with a methodical approach to experiments
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook
