John Gordon Construction has extensive experience in commercial construction projects, ranging from the delicate restoration of turn-of-the-century churches to the reconstruction of Seaway Lock structures. We also take on residential projects, from renovations to new construction developments. We specialize in industrial, commercial and institutional (ICI) projects.
We are looking for responsible construction professionals to join our team. We currently have openings for Carpenters, Apprentices, and Supervisors. What You Will Do
- Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.
- Measure and mark cutting lines on materials, using a ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge.
- Install structures or fixtures, such as windows, frames, floorings, trim, or hardware, using carpenters' hand or power tools.
- Erect scaffolding or ladders for assembling structures above ground level.
- Safety and Quality Control: Practice safe working methods and have a strong knowledge of shop practices, procedures, techniques, tools, equipment, quality control, and safety equipment.
- Supervise crews onsite

- Tool Knowledge: Safe operation of hand and power tools.
- Equipment Operation: Ability to operate required equipment safely and responsibly.
- Plan Reading: Ability to read and interpret design plans.
- Teamwork: Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
- Adaptability: Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities.
- Safety Knowledge: Workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.
