Epilepsy South Eastern Ontario (ESEO) is a registered not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by epilepsy and seizure disorders across South Eastern Ontario. We offer client-focused support services, public education, and community outreach to foster a more inclusive and informed society. Serving both urban and rural communities, ESEO works closely with clients, caregivers, healthcare providers, educators, and community partners to reduce stigma, promote understanding, and ensure equitable access to resources.

Position Summary
The Executive Director (ED) provides compassionate leadership and day-to-day management to ensure ESEO remains a trusted source of support, education, and advocacy for the epilepsy community. Working closely with the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, funders, and partners, the ED fosters meaningful connections, ensures organizational sustainability, and keeps people at the heart of every decision.
This role balances program coordination, financial oversight, fundraising efforts, and community relations within the capacity of a smaller not-for-profit organization.

Salary: $55,000 to $ 65,000 annually (based on relevant experience)

Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Strategic Direction
• Provide leadership aligned with ESEO’s mission, values, and strategic goals.
• Work with the Board of Directors on governance, policy development, and organizational priorities.
• Foster partnerships and collaborations to support growth and enhance programs.
2. Program & Service Delivery
• Oversee delivery of core programs and services, ensuring accessibility, quality and continuous improvement.
• Monitor program outcomes and integrate feedback into planning.
• Support staff, volunteers and students to meet client and community needs.
3. Finance & Fundraising
• Develop and manage the annual budget; oversee financial reporting, compliance and record keeping.
• Lead fundraising initiatives including donor relationships, grant applications, sponsorships and signature fund raising events (e.g., Bowling for Epilepsy & Pull Together for Epilepsy Annual Fire Truck Pull).
• Build and maintain strong relationships with funders and donors
4. Community & Stakeholder Relations
• Act as liaison between the Board, staff, clients, funders, and community partners.
• Serve as a public spokesperson, promoting awareness and advocacy for epilepsy
• Oversee communications (social media, newsletters, website) and represent ESEO at events and outreach activities.
• Build relationships with government agencies, healthcare providers, schools, businesses, and local organizations.
• Foster a positive, inclusive workplace culture while ensuring compliance with employment standards and best practices.

Qualifications
• Post-secondary education in management, social services, health, business administration or a related field (not-for-profit leadership an asset).
• 2–3 years of leadership experience in operations, fundraising, program coordination or, strategic planning.
• Knowledge of epilepsy or a willingness to develop a strong understanding of the condition.
• Experience with financial oversight, grant writing, and stakeholder relations.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365; familiarity with QuickBooks, client databases, and social media tools is an asset.
• Comfortable with technology and basic IT troubleshooting.
• Valid driver's license, access to transportation, and ability to travel regionally
• Vulnerable Sector Police Check required prior to employment.

Workplace Details
• Office located in Kingston with some regional travel across South Eastern Ontario.
• Occasional evenings or weekends required for events or Board meetings.
• Free on-site parking.
• Lieu time offered for additional hours worked.
