Position Summary

*Note this is a temporary position covering full-time hours for up to 3 months*

Under the direction of the Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Manager, the IIDEA Project Analyst provides tracking and administrative support to various equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives within the corporation and the community.

The IIDEA Project Analyst supports the department in the planning, development, implementation, and tracking of specific equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists the Manager in the development and implementation of the strategic plans relating to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to maximize opportunities with the local community, including short and long-term goals and measurable outcomes and achievements
  • Provide administrative oversight to monitor the progress of projects, track project milestones, metrics, and deliverables and ensure compliance with the terms and conditions of grant agreements
  • Research matters of importance to the diverse communities in Kingston and recommend best practices and innovative approaches to reduce barriers throughout the corporation
  • Compare best practice against current City of Kingston policies, by-laws and programs and recommend improvements that will advance the City’s goals to be a more diverse, equitable and inclusive organization
  • Support the development and delivery training programs for city staff, council members, committee members and community members as required
  • Prepare internal and external communications and reports for departments, committees, council, and external organizations as required
  • Research and recommend EDI initiatives are compliant with related policies and legislation as applicable
  • Develop partnerships with City departments and external organizations that will help advance diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives both within the organization and the community
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications, Competencies

  • Degree in public administration, business, gender studies, political sciences, social sciences, related programs or a combination of education and experience
  • 1-2 years of recent related experience working to support equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives
  • Experience in municipal government or community development setting is an asset
  • Experience in the non-profit sector in areas such as project coordinator, change coordinate; community engagement related to IIDEA, social justice; community outreach preferred
  • Knowledge of the KFLA area preferred
  • Must demonstrate Corporate Competencies: Customer Focus, Results Orientation, Integrity, and Teamwork.

Skills, Abilities, Work Demands

  • Must have excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills with the ability to influence others
  • Strong, effective customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment, liaise with key stakeholders and to function effectively with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of how diversity, inclusion and cultural competency prove critical to developing a progressive and equitable workplace.
  • Advanced computer skills including MS Office
  • Strong time and project management skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to gather and interpret information
  • Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to formulate solutions to complex issues
  • Proficient knowledge of (related policies, legislation, Acts, initiatives etc.)
  • Lived experience as a member of an equity deserving group preferred
  • Experience working in an organization that addressed challenges and provided solutions for equity deserving groups preferred
  • Required to obtain and maintain a satisfactory criminal record check
