Rideau Lakes Early Learning Centre has served growing families in the Township of Rideau Lakes and surrounding areas for over 40 years. We provide childcare for children ages 0-12 years, including two full-time daycare programs, two Before & After School/School Age programs, and a Nursery School program, out of three locations in the village of Elgin (77 Main Street, 29 Main Street and South Crosby Public School). We are expanding our organization and adding an additional full-time site located at 2767 Hwy 15, Portland ON K0G 1V0.
Job Opportunity: Site Supervisor I
Rideau Lakes Early Learning Centre seeks applications for a full-time permanent Site Supervisor position.
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week
Wage Range: $26.86/hr- $27.83/hr

Responsibilities:
The Site Supervisor I supervises all staff and operations at the Centre's Portland 2767 Highway 15 Portland, ON location. The Site Supervisor I collaborates closely with all other members of the program team to provide nurturing care and education to young children in a group setting, under the supervision of the Centre’s Executive Director, in accordance with the program statement of the Centre and the philosophy and policies of the Centre; and in compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act.
Registered Early Childhood Educator
- Responsible for the supervision, safety, and well-being of the children, and operates in compliance with all childcare licensing standards, Child Care and Early Years Act, Public Health standards, and Centre policies and procedures.
- Recognizes and responds to the needs of each child following the Centre's program statement, policies and procedures, and developmentally appropriate teaching and child behaviour management techniques.
- Shares in the responsibility for planning, preparing, and implementing stimulating, age-appropriate activities that encourage children’s creativity and learning and promote each child’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development using CCEYA requirements and ELECT documents.
- Observes and records relevant information on each child's progress to ensure all developmental needs are being met as required/as per Centre practices.
- Establishes and maintains regular communication with parents
- Shares responsibility for maintaining the play environments and storage areas in an organized and clutter-free condition and assists with toy/equipment disinfecting.
- Participates fully and consistently as a conscientious team member; maintains regular and open communication with other staff, attends and actively participates in staff meetings or training
- Participates in the supervision, training and mentoring of students, supply teachers, and non-RECEs
- Participates in ongoing professional development and maintains membership in good standing of the College of Early Childhood Educators of Ontario (e.g. via completion of Continuous Professional Learning Plan).
Staff Supervision:
- Responsible for the supervision of all staff at Portland 2767 Highway 15 Portland, ON location, including performance evaluation, support and direction.
- Assists in the hiring of site staff.
- Oversees site staff development and training.
- Fosters innovation, professionalism, and teamwork.
Site Supervision:
- Ensures all play environments, equipment or toys are maintained in good condition and oversees regular inspections. Completes monthly and yearly inspections.
- Reviews all site accident reports, including noting any trends and providing suggestions on preventing future accidents.
- Undertakes regular fire drills and other emergency procedures, including reports on drills.
- Ensures all required postings are posted and up to date
Program Operations and Public Relations:
- Assists Registered Early Childhood Educators in planning and implementing a program that: reflects the philosophy of Centre and that meets the Centre’s Program Statement and meets the regulations and standards of the Ontario Ministry of Education
- Maintains requirements and provincial standards of the Ontario Ministry of Education
- Maintains a safe and healthy environment for children and create a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere.
- Regularly liaises with parents and families. Encourage parental involvement in the Centre.
- Establishes and maintains partnerships with appropriate agencies, professional associations, and other childcare programs in the area.
- Be knowledge, informed, and current on childcare philosophy.
- Promote a positive image of the Centre.
Recordkeeping:
- Ensure that adequate records are maintained and compiled, including ensuring all site staff records are kept within the site and are up to date based on Ontario Ministry of Education requirements, and that records are kept on all children in the program.
- Conducts other related duties as required
Qualifications:
- Early Childhood Education diploma or proof of close completion of ECE program.
- Registered member in good standing of the College of Early Childhood Educators of Ontario.
- Understanding of the CCEYA, ELECT Document, How Does Learning Happen Document, and Public Health Requirements
- 1-3 years’ experience in the childcare profession.
- Valid Standard First Aid and Level “C” CPR.
- Negative criminal record check with vulnerable sector check.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent multi-tasking skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and initiative.
- Must be willing to be flexible to ensure the needs of staff and children are being met.
