Role Summary
The Technical Advisor ensures compliance with HSE requirements. They guide and advise the client’s Balance of Plant (BOP) contractor to meet required quality standards during wind turbine generator (WTG) installation and finishing. They provide deep technical expertise on mechanical and electrical installations of Nordex turbines and components, ensure adherence to instructions, and proactively prevent any deviations. They act as the main point of contact between the client and subcontractors to secure flawless project execution and final handover.
What You’ll Do
• HSE compliance: Proactively ensure Health, Safety & Environment requirements are met throughout WTG installation and finishing; report any deviations observed.
• Quality assurance: Advise the client’s BOP contractor to uphold Nordex quality standards and ensure a smooth transition to commissioning teams, the client, and after-sales.
• Technical support: Apply strong technical knowledge to support all mechanical and electrical activities performed by the client’s BOP contractor and Nordex subcontractors.
• Reporting: Record and report any quality or schedule deviations during WTG/site installation, finishing, and commissioning using the UPVISE system.
• Work supervision: Ensure all mechanical work is executed per installation instructions and tool maintenance requirements; recommend corrective actions where needed.
• Tooling management: Oversee receipt, use, and return of Nordex tooling, ensuring proper usage and availability throughout the project.
• Inspection & quality control: Perform required inspections and checks (goods receipt, quality hold points, customer walkdowns) to verify compliance with project standards and specs.
• Documentation: Contribute to preparing and maintaining the documentation required for client and BOP handover.
• Client relations: Build and maintain a positive, collaborative relationship with the client’s BOP contractor to facilitate smooth project execution.
• Daily reports: Actively manage UPVISE daily progress reports, providing real-time
• updates on supervised activities.
What You Bring
• College diploma (DEC) in Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum 3 years’ supervisory experience in mechanical, electrical, or construction; experience in mechanical construction of wind farms is an asset.
• Experience in quality management and control; experience in wind turbine assembly is an asset.
• Strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build positive relationships with clients and subcontractors.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Ability to meet a 120 kg (265 lb) weight limit to safely use equipment and fall-arrest harnesses.
• Bilingual French/English required.
• Valid driver’s license and passport.
Working Conditions
• Willingness to travel 80%+ of the time.
• On-site presence required for the duration of wind projects (typically 6–12 months).
• Rotation: 4 weeks on / 1 week off.
• Hours: 40–50 hours/week; 6 days/week.
• Travel: primarily Québec sites (Charlevoix, Gaspésie), with possible travel across Canada and to the United States.
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada and able to travel to the United States for work, if required.
