Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with volunteers in the kitchen, providing leadership and guidance to ensure a smooth and efficient operation.
- May include training/mentoring kitchen staff and volunteers, promoting a positive and inclusive working environment.
- Conduct weekly inventory checks of fridges and freezers, ensuring proper storage/rotation and organization of food supplies and materials.
- Ensure safe food handling and inventorying of donations as received.
- Ensure adherence to safe food handling practices and maintain high standards of food safety.
- Prepare, cook and plate meals, ensuring quality and consistency. Active role in meal planning.
- Coordinate with the Manager to address any issues or challenges that may arise during kitchen operations.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of kitchen procedures and protocols.
Qualifications:
- Preference given to candidates with institutional or bulk cooking such as banquets etc.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with volunteers and staff.
- Safe Food handling certificate will be required within 3 months

Job Type: Full-Time Permanent (30+ hours per week)
Schedule: Monday thru Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. (Daily Opening OR Closing Duties)
Experience: Cooking: 2 years (preferred)
Licence/Certification: Food Handler Certification (preferred)
Work Location: In person
