The Corporate Administrative Summer Student provides flexible administrative and project support across multiple departments. The role contributes to day-to-day operations, customer service delivery, and special initiatives while gaining exposure to a wide range of municipal functions.
EDUCATION, SKILLS, TRAINING:
• Currently enrolled in post-secondary education or a recent graduate in a field related to: public administration, business, communications, office administration, or related fields.
• Experience working in an administrative related role considered an asset
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Competence in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Professional, courteous, and customer-focused attitude.
• Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities.
• Valid class “G2” driver’s license and access to a vehicle when working out of various facilities across the Township.
• Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Administrative Support
• Provide general office support including filing, data entry, document preparation, and record organization.
• Assist with updating databases, spreadsheets, and municipal forms.
• Prepare meeting materials, take notes when required, and support internal communications.
Customer Service
• Respond to public inquiries in person, by phone, and by email with a professional and customer-focused approach.
• Direct residents to appropriate staff or resources.
• Support front counter services as needed.
Project & Departmental Support
• Assist with special projects and initiatives in departments across the Township.
• Conduct research, compile information, and support project documentation.
• Assist with events, program delivery, and outreach activities where applicable.
Other Related Duties
• Maintain confidential information in accordance with municipal policies.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Standard office environment.
• May require periods of sitting, standing, and light lifting (up to 20 lbs).
• Typical hours are days, Monday to Friday, with flexibility where operationally required.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Daily communication with Township employees.
External: Frequent interaction with Township residents.
