Part-time, contract position (up to 25 hrs/week, some weekends required) from February to October, 2026. This is an in person role; candidates must be based in Kingston, Ontario during the employment period.

Kingston Destination Group (KDG) is committed to hospitality excellence as the portal to inspired visitor experiences in the Kingston 1000 Islands destination. We operate six tourism brands in downtown Kingston, Ontario: Kingston 1000 Islands Cruises / Kingston Trolley Tours / K-Pass / The Helm / Kingston Walks / Waterfront Gifts & Apparel.
As the Marketing Assistant you will support the Marketing team in promoting these visitor experiences by creating engaging content, executing marketing campaigns, and bringing our story to life across platforms. This role requires a mix of creative and technical marketing skills and is suited for someone who enjoys a balance of desk-based (writing, editing, graphic design) and hands-on (capturing content, engaging with partners, participating in events) work. Experience and/or demonstrated ability in photography, videography, graphic design and editing will be prioritized. You may also be required to participate in other office tasks as needed.

Season: The Kingston 1000 Islands Cruises & Trolley Tours operating season begins in April and ends in October.
Qualifications:
- Positive attitude and creative approach.
- Comfortable working in person shifts in an open-office setting.
- Organized with ability to balance priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro).
- Experience shooting, exporting, uploading and editing digital photo and video content.
- Confident utilizing and optimizing scheduling tools (e.g. Hootsuite).
- Knowledge of WordPress or other website content management systems. (Basic understanding of HTML is an asset)
- Experience with Google Ads, Google Analytics, Facebook Ads Manager.
- Knowledge of emerging marketing tools, trends and technologies.
- Passion for guest/experience-driven storytelling.
- Recent graduate or currently enrolled in Marketing, Communications, Media, or a related field.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Marketing Communications team with execution of marketing activities (digital, print, social media, paid ads, activations).
- Support KDG departments with collateral and communications, ensuring content aligns with brand, core values and voice.
- Develop and schedule creative content for use across social media platforms and email campaigns. Use UGC and social listening tools.
- Capture and curate visual assets. Shoot, export, upload and edit photo and video content, maintaining an organized media library.
- Assist with graphic design tasks and needs including the development of brochures, posters, and other pieces using Adobe Creative Suite.
- Assist with developing content for digital advertising (e.g. Google, Facebook, YouTube) and traditional advertising (e.g. TV Billboards) channels.
- Monitor and maintain brand digital presence using internal and external CMS platforms (e.g. WordPress). Routinely update company-owned websites, external event listings and tourism partner pages.
- Participate in tourism events and activations, assisting with setup and teardown, managing the booth and coordinating promotional materials throughout the event.
- When necessary, assist with office operations.
