SCOPE OF THE POSITION: Mulberry Waldorf School is seeking a Summer Camp Co-Director (Programming, Marketing, and Staffing Focus) to plan, oversee and support the operations of our summer camps in partnership with a second Summer Camp Director whose focus is on enrolment and scheduling. The summer camp runs for 5 weeks in the summer (likely July 13 to Aug 14, dates to be confirmed), with one staff training week in advance of the first camp session. The contract will begin in January 2026 with marketing, program planning, and staff hiring.

Areas of responsibility and tasks for the Summer Camp Co-Director (Programming, Marketing, and Staffing Focus) include, but are not limited to:

Marketing:

  • In collaboration with the school Administrative Head, create a Marketing plan and strategies
  • Help to create marketing materials and social media content to promote camp
  • Help share social media posts
  • Help disseminate paper marketing materials
  • Staff Recruitment and Management:
  • Create/Update job postings for counsellors and volunteers
  • Review applications and set up interviews
  • Conduct interviews and select staff (with co-director)
  • Work with Administrative Head on letters of offer and contracts
  • Collect police checks and First Aid/CPR certifications from hired staff
  • Create training schedule/activities
  • Collaborate with co-director to determine division of roles and responsibilities during training
  • Co-Lead staff training the week before camps begin (pedagogical focus)
  • Assign daily tasks and responsibilities to camp assistants and volunteers (in-person meetings)
  • Evaluate and course correct performance of all staff (regular feedback)

Enrolment:

  • Create camper profile sheets for binders

Scheduling/Programming:

  • Manage and restock supplies
  • Book field trips and handle all related logistics (tickets, transportation, insurance, etc.) - within assigned budget
  • Plan enriching activities and materials list that reflect Waldorf pedagogy
  • Research and plan field trips - within assigned budget
  • Manage field trip days (departures, returns, etc.)
  • Oversee fulfilment of daily schedule and activities by the team
  • Manage field trip days (departures, returns, etc.)
  • Cover breaks for counselors
  • Parent/Guardian Relationships and Behaviour Management:
  • Answer parent programming and behavioural inquiries via email or phone call prior to and during camp
  • Build strong relationships with parents/guardians
  • Implement our Code of Conduct and expectations with campers and parents/guardians
  • Troubleshoot behavioural issues and consult with Administrative Head or Pedagogical Director if issues escalate
  • Sign in and sign out campers daily
  • Regularly report to the school Administrative Head and Pedagogical Director

KEY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION: The ideal candidates will have a passion for holistic education, and experience in Waldorf education and/or experience working with young children. We are looking for candidates with the following skills/certification:

  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Waldorf Teaching Certificate and/or B.Ed. degree and/or Early Childhood Education Diploma and/or equivalent experience/training
  • Summer camp employment experience
  • Current Police Check, including the Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Current Standard First Aid + CPR-C Certification
  • Demonstrated leadership and collaboration skills
  • Demonstrated ability to create a warm, gentle, and supportive environment
  • Experienced and confident with positive behaviour management
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong initiative and work ethic
  • Musical and artistic skills

COMPENSATION: The salary for a Summer Camp Co-Director is $8,593. The salary is paid out to reflect the part-time (fifty hours) pre-Camp planning between January 12-July 3, 2026 and the full-time (8.5 hours per day with a paid lunch) between July 13-August 19, 2026. The school supports any training/professional development required for the position.
