Founded in 1952, Tomlinson is a family owned and operated business that has grown from a one single-axle dump truck to Eastern Canada’s leader in environmental, construction and transportation infrastructure services.

Currently, R.W. Tomlinson is looking for a motivated student to support our Tomlinson Infrastructure team from May to August 2026. This would be a full-time position working in the office and on job sites.   

Location: Kingston, ON

  • Review and understand contract specifications and drawings.
  • Working alongside Project Coordinators and Project Managers on-site to help complete impactful projects.
  • Work alongside Foremen and Project Coordinators to complete measurements and prepare journal entries and conduct and coordinate quality control measures as required.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly progress invoices.
  • Assist with office administration paperwork related to project needs.
  • Assist with project team in updating project schedule.

Possible exposure to the following areas of work:

  • Road Building, Grading, and Paving.
  • Bridge rehabilitation and new bridge construction.
  • Sewer and Watermain installations.
  • Shoring and Piling.

*Other tasks may be provided based on the candidate’s motivation to learn, and company needs.

The ideal candidate looks something like this: 

  • Has a valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Able to work from Monday to Friday, 7:00AM to 5:00PM.
  • Able to work on site as construction is deemed an essential service (location is typically in Eastern Ontario).
  • Currently enrolled in your second or third year of an engineering-related program.
  • Strong advocate of Tomlinson’s core values.
  • Drive and motivated to make an impact in the construction industry.
  • Able to work independently with a bias towards action.
  • Able to adapt and think systematically – conceptualize and problem-solve complex and detailed issues.
  • Able to effectively communicate in various environments.
  • Driven to lean rom others and apply teachings to a real-world setting
