As an RPN you would administer medications under direction of the RN, help guide and assist PSW's with high quality and safe resident care, assist with the assessment of residents and other related duties as required.
Job Details:
Provide nursing care to residents with acute and chronic illnesses and conditions whose needs are generally stabilized. The RPN will assume the role of team leader per neighborhood, guiding and directing the Personal Support Workers in the provision of high quality and safe resident care.

What will you do:
• Perform nursing procedures consistent with the Standards of Practice and Scope of Practice as defined by the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Responsible for administration of medications including narcotics, catheter insertion, maintenance, troubleshooting, and discontinuation, wound care; developing appropriate treatments in collaboration with wound care team, ongoing monitoring and evaluation, escalation based on assessments if worsening condition, respiratory assessments leading to initiation of oxygen therapy and medication interventions, documentation in the resident’s electronic health record including, progress notes, medication administration and effectiveness, interventions and changes in conditions.
• Complete all vital signs including neurological.
• Assist with the assessment of the residents’ needs, their plan of care and evaluation of the care provided.
• Partner with residents and their families in the provision of care.
• Provide for the residents’ emotional and physical comfort and safety.
• Assess the residents and report significant change(s) in condition to the Registered Nurse.
• Maintain responsibility for the residents unless the care needs are outside of their scope of practice.
• Work in collaboration with the Registered Nurse and Physicians to make modifications to resident care plans and treatments as required.
• Complete appropriate referrals to interdisciplinary team in accordance with the plan of care or changes in resident condition.
• Perform health training to residents within the realm of his/her knowledge and training.
• Direct the Personal Support Workers to assist with social or recreational activities for residents.
• Responsible for personal and vocational growth and development, while remaining up to date on best practice guidelines.
• Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills with exceptional organizational and leadership ability.
