WHAT WILL YOU DO?

The Shared Services Technician is part of the Technical Resources Group and Technical Field Activities Team who supports project teams and works under the direction of more senior staff. The role focuses on data collection, inspection, equipment maintenance, and preparation of technical documentation to support service line teams in both field and office environments. Tasks can vary within service groups and based on project type, as detailed below.

JOB DUTIES

• Conduct standard fieldwork including sample collection, basic testing, inspections, and monitoring in accordance with established procedures and protocols.

• Assist with ecological field surveys, measurements, borehole drilling, compaction testing, and other routine investigations under the direction of senior staff.

• Operate, calibrate, maintain, and safely use field monitoring and sampling equipment.

• Complete accurate field documentation, including field notes, logs, inspection forms, and laboratory submissions, in a timely manner.

• Support abatement, remediation, and construction projects through routine inspection and testing to verify compliance with applicable guidelines and regulations.

• Assist with data compilation and contribute to report preparation by providing accurate field data and observations.

• Follow standard operating procedures, best management practices, and applicable health, safety, and environmental requirements.

• Communicate effectively with project team members regarding field activities, observations, and issues encountered.

• Maintain field equipment, track supplies, and report equipment or material needs to senior staff.

• Complete timesheets and expense submissions accurately and within required deadlines.

• Perform work in accordance with professional conduct, ethical standards, and organizational policies.

• Take reasonable care for personal safety and the safety of others by using required personal protective equipment, reporting hazards or incidents, and maintaining a clean and organized work area.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Undergraduate degree or college diploma in a related discipline such as science or engineering

• 0-1+ years of relevant experience

• Knowledge of related legislation and regulations

• Ability to learn about several service lines and related responsibilities quickly and apply new knowledge, with a drive to succeed

• Good problem-solving and critical thinking skills

• Good organizational skills with attention to detail

• Good communication skills with the ability to listen and clarify

• Good computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, TEAMS, and other project-related software and databases

• Ability to work independently, while also being able to collaborate as part of a team

• Good interpersonal skills with the ability build positive relationships with team and contractors

• Good customer service orientation

• Flexible and adaptable to changing needs

• A high level of integrity, ability to maintain confidentiality, and pride in quality work

• Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle

• The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills with fluency (reading, writing and oral) in English.
