We are seeking a reliable, high-energy Food Truck Lead to take the wheel and manage daily operations for in a fast-paced, high-volume Fryway food truck. This is a unique hybrid role designed for someone who enjoys the autonomy of being "on the road" and the fast-paced environment of a professional kitchen.
The successful candidate will be responsible for getting the truck to its destination safely, managing the "mise en place," and leading the line during peak service hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Mobile Operations & Transport: Safely drive and maneuver the food truck to various event sites, ensuring all equipment is secured for transit and the vehicle is maintained.
- Service Excellence: Oversee all aspects of food preparation to ensure consistency, speed, and high-quality presentation during high-volume windows (daily lunch operations and 5,000+ attendee events).
- Kitchen Leadership: Manage daily production and supervise small teams to ensure the kitchen is fully prepared for fast-paced service.
- Inventory & Logistics: Monitor raw ingredient processing and stock levels to minimize waste while ensuring peak freshness for every event.
- Compliance & Safety: Maintain rigorous adherence to food safety standards and provincial health regulations during all stages of preparation, handling, and cleanup.
- Equipment Oversight: Perform basic start-up and shut-down procedures for onboard generators, propane systems, and specialized kitchen equipment.
Qualifications
- Experience: 2–3 years of experience in a professional kitchen (Line Lead, Sous Chef, or Kitchen Manager experience preferred).
- Licensing: Valid G-Class Driver’s License with a clean abstract and comfort driving larger vehicles.
- Certifications: Valid Food Handler’s Certificate is required.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to work on your feet in a compact, high-heat environment and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Availability: Must be available for weekend events and festivals throughout the summer season (June–August). Outside of peak event season, there is more flexibility with scheduling availability, and weekends off.
