Intelligence Operators collect, analyze, and assess information from a range of sources to support operational planning and decision making for the Canadian Armed Forces and the Government of Canada. Members begin at a daily rate of pay of $143.76, earning over $18,000 during the May-August summer period with allowances.

Reserve Force members typically train and work with their home unit one evening per week and one weekend per month from September to May. New members are offered full-time summer employment for up to five summers during their early Reserve service; however, participation in all summer periods is not mandatory and training schedules can be adapted to individual availability.

Intelligence Operators work in highly secure environments with restricted access, routinely handling sensitive and classified information. At 21 Electronic Warfare Regiment, training begins with common military skills and progresses into specialization in tactical Electronic Warfare. Following basic training, members receive additional instruction in soldier skills, driving, and communications, before advancing into fields such as tactical, operational, and strategic intelligence analysis, counterintelligence, electronic warfare, psychological operations, or other specialized disciplines.

Upon completing training, successful candidates may apply for positions within Canada or volunteer for deployments abroad. Members may also pursue opportunities to transfer into the Regular Force or apply their skills across other intelligence and operations roles within the Canadian Armed Forces.
