Qualification/Education requirements:
- Social Service Worker diploma, or other related certificates from a college or university
- VAW (Violence Against Women) Shelter experience is an asset
- Must possess current First Aid / CPR certification
Job Description:
- Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced crisis environment of a women's shelter supporting clients from a trauma informed perspective
- Provide crisis counselling and support to clients who have experienced trauma
- Supervise activities of clients living in a communal setting
- Assess and advocate for clients needs
- Coordinate and implement the delivery of specific services within the community
- Documentation skills required to record client data in agency database
- Provide suicide and crisis prevention and intervention, resolve conflict situations
- Provide support regarding systems navigation to residents to access needed and critical resources
- Liaise with other social service, community agencies and health care providers involved with clients
- Answer crisis phone line/ text line and assist callers
- Develop service plans/safety plans/risk assessment
- Physically demanding
- Housekeeping duties, other duties as required

- Ability to work independently and within a team approach
- Ability to acknowledge and respect diversity in all persons
- Ability to maintain a safe, well-being environment for all clients
- Maintain the confidentiality and security of resident-related and Agency information
- Awareness of Violence Against Women issues, prevention and services an asset
- Non-judgmental and active listening skills
- Ability to read, write and converse in both English and French is an asset.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Outlook, internet search)
- Organizational and time management skills
- Adhere to the policies and procedures of the Organization
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries at all times
- Participate in education and professional development when applicable
- Provide a valid and recent vulnerable sector check
- Have a valid SIN
