Windsor Regional Hospital is one of the largest hospitals in Ontario, serving a population of about 400,000 people in Windsor and Essex County. The hospital provides acute care services and operates two campuses. WRH has over 4300 employees, 550 professional staff, 400 volunteers, and more than 150 medical school students and resident physicians. WRH is the regional provider of advanced care and provides the following services for the entire former Erie St. Clair LHIN: Complex Trauma, Renal Dialysis, Cardiac Care, Stroke and Neurosurgery Intensive Care, Acute Mental Health, Family Birthing Centre, Neonatal Intensive Care, Paediatric services, and Regional Cancer Services.

We are seeking a Pathology Clerk who is responsible for clerical support within the Pathology Department. Other duties include: assisting Pathologist with requests for clinical trials, consultations, labels and requisitions. This includes gathering Pathology material for send out, packaging, shipping, tracking and documenting applicable information. Make phone calls for Pathologist as well answer incoming phones calls. 

Communicating effectively with physicians, management, pathology staff, other staff, patients, family members, etc. The Pathology Clerk will be responsible transcribe Pathologist report for Coroner autopsies and referral/consult letters. The Pathology Clerk complies with the Occupational Health and Safety standards for the hospital and is proactive in promoting a safe work environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills and ability to work as a member of an integrated healthcare team
  • Bilingualism – preferred
  • Basic computer literacy – required

EDUCATION/TRAINING EXPERIENCE:

  • Grade 12 education – required
  • Graduate of an approved Medical Secretarial programme or Transcription programme-required
  • Previous Pathology transcription experience - required
  • Medical Terminology – required (will be tested)
  • Previous Pathology experience - preferred
