Maritime House Metals Inc. is an innovative metal recycling company focused on the recovery and purification of high-value materials, including rhenium, from industrial and superalloy waste streams. Using advanced hydrometallurgical and analytical techniques, we produce high-purity metals for critical industries such as aerospace and energy.
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to support analytical testing and quality control within our rhenium recycling operations. This role is essential to ensuring product quality, process efficiency, and compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and advanced chemical analyses on process samples, intermediates, and final products
- Prepare samples using digestion, filtration, dilution, and other standard laboratory techniques
- Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation (e.g., ICP-OES, AAS, pH meters, titration systems)
- Record, analyze, and report data accurately in laboratory information systems or logs
- Maintain calibration and quality control standards for analytical equipment
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemical reagents and samples
- Assist in method development and process optimization initiatives
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations and SOPs
Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering Technology, or a related field
- 1–3 years of laboratory experience (metallurgical or industrial lab preferred)
- Strong understanding of analytical chemistry techniques
- Experience with ICP, AAS, or similar instrumentation is an asset
- Knowledge of safe chemical handling and WHMIS regulations
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (Excel, data entry systems)
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in hydrometallurgy or metal recycling (e.g., nickel, cobalt, rhenium, molybdenum)
- Familiarity with ISO quality systems or laboratory QA/QC procedures
- Experience working in an industrial or production-supported lab
Working Conditions:
- Laboratory environment within an industrial facility
- Handling of acids, bases, and metal-bearing solutions (PPE required)
- Occasional interaction with production areas
- May require standing for extended periods
