This position acts as the project manager for course development, including implementing and ensuring timelines, outlining course development plans and guiding the development process. This position designs and develops online, blended, and instructional workshops. 

The Instructional Designer collaborates on course development with subject matter experts, editors, and web developers. This position provides guidance, training and/or expertise to team members, industry partners, students, writers, faculty and/or management on tools and processes. This position also collects and analyzes data, and makes recommendations for improvements to courses and/or to gauge course success rates.

Responsibilities:

  • Acts as the project manager for course development, including implementing and ensuring timelines, outlining course development plans and guiding the development process.
  • Designs and develops online, blended, and instructional workshops by applying best instructional practices and learning technologies.
  • Collaborates on course development with subject matter experts, editors, and web developers.
  • Composes, creates, edits and/or proofreads a variety of materials, including publications, advertisements and marketing materials, proposals, social media posts, website copy, promotional materials, briefings, reports, articles, quizzes, assignments, manuals, signage, newsletters, stationary, logos and graphic and video content.
  • Creates and updates design templates for print and electronic usage.
  • Provides guidance, training and/or expertise to team members, industry partners, students, writers, faculty and/or management on tools and processes.
  • Collects and analyzes data, and makes recommendations for improvements to courses and/or to gauge course success rates.
  • Maintains information databases and/or archives.
  • Liaises with the copyright librarian to identify appropriate digital resources for instructors, ensuring copyright permissions are secured and documenting the use of copyright items.
  • Provides training and support regarding teaching strategies, learning activities, assessments, increased student engagement, and integration of new learning technologies.
  • Assists in the delivery of courses, lectures, tutorials and/or laboratory activities by preparing marking schemes, rubrics and coordinating design deliverables.
  • Other duties as required in support of the department and/or unit.

Education:

  • Master's Degree or equivalent. In addition, requires a professional designation, certification, or other qualification, or on-going learning to remain ahead of changes in technology or emerging fields.

Required Experience

  • More than 3 years and up to and including 5 years of experience.
  • Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.
