Tall ShipsCAN is a national not-for-profit association, is comprised of a network of Canadian tall ship sail training operators, maritime heritage organizations and port partners established to facilitate collaboration in the tall ship sailing industry. We are committed to education and training, youth development and career opportunities, supporting regulatory frameworks and establishing best practices in the sailing and marine industry. Tall Ships Canada member operators are on the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Seaway.
We are looking for someone who’s passionate about communications and social media marketing to engage youth and sail training operators across the country.
Work Location
- Remote-work environment with supervision and direction mostly over Zoom, with weekly in-person meetings.
Here’s what you’ll do as the Social Media Coordinator with Tall ShipsCAN:
- Drive a peer-to-peer social campaign that will address the need for youth interaction, engagement, socialization and “unplugged learning” while bolstering the tall ship sailing socials.
- Create a social media calendar, building a summer 2026 national campaign and adding member operator engagements to encourage interactions and conversations.
- Research and present the current means for social media engagement of youth and parents, specifically related to summer camps, experiential learning & exploring the natural environment.
- Create a digital library of photos and videos submitted through communication with member operators, alumni, crew and students/trainees (youth aboard ship).
- Determine and implement the means to build the following on all TSC social media channels using creative solutions to challenges presented to non-profits.
- Build an online template to capture names and photo/video of tall ship alumni from across the country and where they are now.
- Determine the best means to build following and engagement by reporting on posts and engagements with the public.
- It is possible the employee will have the opportunity to sail on a tall ship as part of this agreement.
- Any small projects in support of the membership.
Who are you?
- A Canadian youth or permanent resident between the ages of 15 and 30 who either lives or goes to school in Leeds & Grenville. This position is funded by the Canada Summer Jobs program.
- Experience with social media for business and Canva is a real bonus.
- Productive in a remote-work environment with supervision and direction mostly over Zoom, with weekly in-person meetings.
- Passionate about marketing, communications or business and looking for an employment opportunity that will earn you $18.50/hour AND help make a difference in the lives of others.
- Available for 8 weeks of work at 35 hours a week, starting May 11, 2026.
