Ontario Out of Doors (OOD), the flagship publication of the Ontario Federation of Anglers & Hunters Membership (OFAH Membership), is seeking a detail-oriented and adaptable Assistant Digital Editor to support the creation, management, and delivery of high-quality digital and print content. Reporting to the Digital Editor, this role offers hands-on experience in digital publishing, editorial production, websites, social media, and audience engagement.

Responsibilities:

Digital & Editorial Content

  • Manage and update digital and print content for OOD across websites, email, and social media platforms
  • Research, write, edit, and proof editorial content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency
  • Prepare digital versions of current and archived magazine issues for online publication
  • Ensure all content meets OOD quality standards and supports OFAH’s broader message

Collaboration & Audience Engagement

  • Work closely with OFAH teams to brainstorm and develop engaging content ideas
  • Collaborate with editors, contributors, and external partners throughout the editorial process
  • Support sponsored content and advertising in coordination with sales and marketing teams
  • Provide timely, professional responses to member, subscriber, and public inquiries

Marketing, Analytics & Support

  • Assist with planning, executing, and reporting on social media and email campaigns
  • Monitor content performance and digital trends to inform future initiatives
  • Maintain advertising contacts and support campaign reporting
  • Contribute to ongoing improvements to digital processes and user experience

Qualifications:

Eligibility (as per the requires of the Canada Summer Jobs Program):

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of employment
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

Education:

  • Minimum of one year post-secondary education in journalism, publishing, communications, digital media, English, graphic design or equivalent work-related experience in the relevant fields

Skills & Experience:

  • Strong written, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management, organization, and multitasking abilities
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including:
      • Windows & Mac platforms
      • WordPress, HTML
      • Adobe Creative Suite
      • MailChimp
      • Microsoft Office (including Teams)
      • Desktop publishing, social media platforms, and digital analytics


Assets (nice to have):

  • Minimum of one year of experience in communications, marketing, or digital media roles
  • Personal experience and interest in hunting, fishing, firearms, and conservation

Work Environment & Requirements:

This position offers remote and hybrid work options. Candidates must have access to a computer, high-speed internet, and a web browser.

You should be comfortable with:

  • Office-based digital and editorial work
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods

You must have or be able to obtain:

  • OFAH membership (required at time of hire)
  • Criminal record check (required every three years)
