Lanark Lodge is a municipal LTC home with 163 residents that reside here. We offer a model for living to persons who require assistance with activities of daily life. Our philosophy of care provides choices for daily living, while ensuring that the quality and level of care is consistent. As a PSW you would be responsible for the direct care of residents within the Home through the promotion of an interdisciplinary approach which facilitates quality care to residents.
What will you do:
- Possess the ability to interact with residents who may experience cognitive and physical impairment affecting the senses.
- Demonstrate effective and timely communication of resident-related observations to registered staff (RN/RPN).
- Must practice using the techniques and skills taught in their respective care programs.
- Provide the residents with emotional, social and cognitive support.
- Partner with the residents and their family in the provision of high quality and safe care while maintaining confidentiality.
- Assist with restorative care under the direction of the registered staff.
- Collect data and monitor changes in resident status under the direction of the registered staff.
- Complete resident documentation.
- Maintain a safe and orderly environment in each resident care area while ensuring adequate supplies are available.
- Contribute to resident care conferences as required.
- Possess effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must have the ability to work cooperatively and respectfully within the interdisciplinary team.
- Identify indicators of risk to residents’ health and report concerns to registered staff.
Schedule:
Full-time rotating schedule; day, evening, night, and weekend shifts; overtime may be available.
Minimum Qualifications
- Completion of a college, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma program of 3 months to less than 1 year.
- Personal Support Worker certificate.
- Experience is an asset.
- Ability to work on site in a nursing home or home for the aged.
- Ability to meet all screening and safety requirements for the role.

Work Conditions and Physical Demands
- Fast-paced environment, physically demanding work, repetitive tasks, standing for extended periods, bending, crouching, kneeling, walking, and a combination of sitting, standing, and walking.
- Personal Suitability: Client focus, dependability, efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral communication, flexibility, initiative, interpersonal awareness, judgement, organization, reliability, patience, and teamwork.
- Assets, Not Mandatory: Basic Cardiac Life Support, First Aid, and CPR are assets.
