Casual Supply Staff - Lamplighter Preschool

Lamplighter Preschool  in Napanee is a fun, busy, playful environment housing naturalized playgrounds. Turning 43 yrs old in June/26, we pride ourselves in our prominent long standing history and reputation within the community of Greater Napanee. We would love to have you on our Team!!

DAYS: Varies. On call, when full time staff away. Could receive last minute calls eg/ 6am or a 9pm call or be pre-booked ahead of time.

TIME: Varies. Could be 3 hr shift or up to an 8 hr day and depending on shift, as early as 8:30am to the latest 5:15pm.

START: When all references and documents check out and completion of reading all policies. Also required, is a photo and small biography about yourself that would be sent to parents.

DOCUMENTS NEEDED:

• Vulnerable Sector Check within last 6 months.
• A WSIB approved (as per Ministry of Ed) Standard First Aid/CPR level C certificate.
• Immunizations up-to-date (as per Southeast Public Health’s Immunization routine).

PAY: currently, non RECE supply starting at $20.70 & RECE supply starting at $25.86 (includes Government grants).

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

•  Playing, being engaging, encouraging communication and social/self-help skills and supervision of the children. 
• Communication and team work alongside with co-workers, be gracious and welcoming to parents and any Professionals that may visit, assisting with daily routine (clean, tidy, diapering, soothe at rest time etc.) 
•  Be energetic, calm, patient, caring and enthusiastic in a fast paced, loud and busy environment. 
•  Be able to pick up on routines quickly, show initiative and adhere to all policies and procedures.
• CAR is necessary if not living in Napanee or not in walking distance of the Preschool.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

•  RECE is preferred but will accept PSW, EA, DSW, CYW, SSW. 
•  Minimum High School Diploma with other child care experience will be considered. 
•  Experience with Special Needs and simple sign language an asset.
• Safe Food Handlers Certificate: If you have this, you can also cover the cook when the cook is away. Working independently with time management skills essential to follow recipes, prep/cook and deliver meals (am snack, lunch, pm snack). Retrieve dishes, scrape and load dishwasher and/or 3 sink method. Maintaining safe, healthy and a clean kitchen, adhering to all policies and procedures of kitchen duty and Health Inspector’s advice.
• Physicality: Due to the nature of working with children, there will be bending, lifting, kneeling, sitting, standing and picking up children who need comfort. Come prepared to play outside in any weather/season.
• If in kitchen; you are on your feet most of the shift, around HOT items, bending, stooping, reaching and lifting of food items and/or heavy pots/pans.
