The S.C.A.D.A Technologist will provide secure and stable monitoring and control of the water/wastewater, electric and gas utilities to Operators across the Utilities Kingston service areas. They will collaborate with stakeholders to install, configure, maintain, secure and optimize all S.C.A.D.A hardware, software and communication links and provide end-user training and support where required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain secure and reliable monitoring and control of S.C.A.D.A systems across water/wastewater, electric and gas utilities.
- Troubleshoot S.C.A.D.A systems to solve complex electrical and software related problems.
- Provide support to utility operators to help troubleshoot non-S.C.A.D.A related process failures.
- Develop and commission S.C.A.D.A processes for capital projects and end-of-life equipment.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of cybersecurity controls in compliance with regulatory bodies.
- Configure and maintain historical servers to store data in compliance with the O.E.B and M.O.E guidelines and regulations.
- Provide regular data updates to support regulatory reporting requirements.
- Develop and maintain the S.C.A.D.A network architecture for the utilities, including the configuration and maintenance of network switches and routers.
- Comply with all health and safety requirements, maintain a safe work environment, report hazards and promote a culture of safety in the workplace.
Education, Certification and Other Qualifications Required
- Post-secondary diploma in Instrumentation Engineering, Computer Engineering or Electronic Engineering Technology
- Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T) or working towards
- 3+ years’ experience in automation and control design in an industrial environment and experience with communication systems including S.C.A.D.A H.M.I Platforms and protocols
- Class G drivers’ licence
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Expert ability to troubleshoot control systems, field devices and program P.L.Cs
- Expert ability to develop H.M.I applications
- Advanced ability to interpret schematics, process control narratives and technical documentation
- Advanced knowledge of programming languages
- Advanced ability to configure and maintain network servers, networking devices and cybersecurity standards
- Advanced ability to configure, maintain and query S.Q.L databases
- Intermediate AutoCAD skills
- Intermediate M.S Office skills
- Intermediate knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety requirements as it relates to individual, organizational and operational requirements
