The Human Resources Generalist provides comprehensive day-to-day HR support within a unionized healthcare environment, serving as a primary point of contact for employee inquiries and routine HR matters. The role supports the consistent application of HR policies, collective agreement provisions, and employment legislation while assisting with employee and labour relations processes, disability management, and HR documentation. In addition to daily operational responsibilities, the Generalist plays a significant role in organizational special projects, including policy development, HR systems improvements, program implementation, and process redesign. The incumbent brings strong organizational skills, analytical capability, and the ability to coordinate multi-stakeholder initiatives. Experience with project management or project coordination is considered a strong asset.

Please note this is a temporary position with an anticipated end date of March 31, 2027.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of progressive HR experience in a professional setting.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment with exposure to collective agreement interpretation.
  • Knowledge of employment legislation including the ESA, OHSA, and Human Rights Code.
  • Experience supporting employee or labour relations.
  • Experience coordinating or supporting special projects, including policy updates, HR system improvements, or organizational change initiatives.
  • Understanding of disability management, WSIB processes, and accommodation principles.
  • Ability to maintain accurate HR documentation and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Experience using HRIS systems and digital tools for tracking, reporting, or workflow management.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to support staff and leaders professionally.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities in sensitive or complex situations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and prepare reports.
  • Commitment to professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality in all HR interactions.
  • Required to provide a satisfactory criminal record check (CRC) prior to hire.
