Infrastructure Operations- IT CO-OP program - Shared Services Canada

The Connectivity and Security Services Branch (CSSB) is responsible for the planning, design, and operations of the Government of Canada’s (GC) IT network infrastructure, videoconferencing solutions, and the delivery of cybersecurity and IT security services to protect the GC’s data and technological assets.

We are seeking CO-OP students for an internship in the following stream.

Responsibilities:

You will be expected to perform the following tasks:

Stream 1 – Infrastructure Operations

• Provide technical support for the development, implementation, and maintenance of IT operations (installation, configuration, monitoring, testing).
• Manage the IT asset life cycle: inventory, backup, recovery, acquisition.
• Assist clients with issues related to hardware, software, networking, or cloud services.
• Resolve reported technical issues and document intervention processes.

Desired Knowledge:

We encourage students in computer science to apply, particularly those with knowledge in the following areas:

Stream 1 – Infrastructure Operations

• IT systems concepts (cloud technologies, operating systems, hardware and software infrastructures, client service management).
• Standards and methodologies for configuring, testing, and implementing IT infrastructure.

Qualifications Considered an Asset:

In your résumé, mention if you possess:

• Recognized certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CISSP).
• Previous experience in IT or with the Government of Canada.

The Opportunity

Location:

• SPC hires in various regions across Canada (e.g., Montreal, Atlantic Region, National Capital Region).
•  Internships typically take place within the same geographic area as your post-secondary institution unless otherwise indicated. Please note that SPC does not cover relocation costs.

Work Arrangement:

• Depending on the team and operational needs, work arrangements may include full-time on-site work, a hybrid model, or remote work.
•  Following their internship, students who demonstrate strong skills may be offered opportunities to continue with a part-time contract. 
• Additionally, students who successfully complete an initial internship with SPC may have the option to return for future internships.

Compensation

Student wages are established by the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat and range from $18.84 to $28.30 for undergraduate students. Learn more .

Responsabilités:

Vous devrez accomplir les tâches suivantes: 

Volet 1 – Opérations d’infrastructure

• Support technique pour l’élaboration, la mise en œuvre et l’entretien des opérations TI (installation, configuration, surveillance, tests).
• Gestion du cycle de vie des actifs TI : inventaire, sauvegarde, récupération, acquisition.
• Support client (matériel, logiciels, réseau, services infonuagiques).
• Résolution de problèmes techniques signalés par les utilisateurs et documentation des interventions.

Connaissances recherchées:

Nous encourageons les étudiants en informatique à postuler, particulièrement ceux ayant des connaissances dans le domaine suivant :

Volet 1 – Opérations d’infrastructure

• Concepts de systèmes TI (cloud, systèmes d’exploitation, infrastructures matérielles et logicielles, gestion du service client).
• Normes et méthodologies de configuration, tests et mise en œuvre des infrastructures TI.

Qualifications constituant un atout:

• Certifications reconnues (ex. : CCNA, CCNP, CISSP).
• Expérience antérieure en TI ou avec le gouvernement du Canada.

L’opportunité:

Emplacement

• SPC embauche dans diverses régions du Canada (ex. : Montréal, Atlantique, capitale nationale). 
• Les stages se déroulent généralement dans la même zone géographique que votre établissement d’études postsecondaires, sauf indication contraire. 
• Veuillez noter que SPC ne couvre pas les frais de relocalisation.

Modèle de travail

Selon l’équipe et les besoins, le travail peut être à temps plein sur place, hybride ou à distance. Suite à leur stage, les étudiants ayant démontré leurs compétences pourraient se voir offrir l’opportunité de poursuivre leur emploi avec un contrat à temps partiel à temps. De plus, les étudiants qui ont un complété un premier stage réussi avec nous ont la possibilité de revenir à SPC pour leur prochain stage.

Taux de rémunération

Le salaire étudiant est établi par le Secrétariat du Conseil du Trésor et varie entre 18,84 et 28,30 pour les étudiants au premier cycle. Plus d’information .
