As a Registered Nurse (RN) at our Rapid Access Addictions Management (RAAM) clinic, you will play a vital role in delivering compassionate and effective care to patients who wish to address problematic substance use. The RN at our RAAM Clinic will support the provision of low-barrier addictions medicine care to individuals with substance use disorders in a variety of settings, including in office and in the communities of Hastings and Prince Edward Counties. The RN has a passion for Addictions Medicine, a thorough understanding of Concurrent Disorders, and a recovery-based, trauma-informed approach to care. As a key member of a team of passionate Prescribers, Counsellors and Peer Workers working across the region, the RN supports the most vulnerable and marginalized members of our community.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

  • Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing is required, Master of Science in Nursing is preferred.
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as an RN is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years in mental health and addictions field is preferred.
  • Current First Aid and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (FA/CPR) Certification.
  • Current Non Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) is preferred.
  • Current Suicide Intervention training (i.e. Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)) is preferred.
  • Completion of suboxone and addiction medicine education and/or willingness to complete.
  • Knowledge of risks and benefits of prescribed narcotics and controlled substances.
  • Experience in community and/or primary care setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Mental Health Act, the Health Care Consent Act, and other relevant legislation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess knowledge and proficiency in current, evidenced-based methods and practices of primary care delivery, with an emphasis on health promotion and risk reduction.
  • Demonstrate superior leadership, organization, evaluation, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Prior experience and knowledge of electronic medical record management.
  • Experience working as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Evidence of professional practice liability insurance (per professional practice requirements).
  • Required to provide a satisfactory criminal record check (CRC) with vulnerable sector screening prior to hire.
  • Must possess a valid Ontario Driver's License, have regular access to a reliable vehicle, and provide proof of adequate vehicle insurance.
  • Willingness to travel within Hastings and Prince Edward Counties, as required.
