The Residential Counsellor, reporting to the Program Manager, works as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to provide ongoing side-by-side in-house and community support, Activities of Daily Living teaching and stabilization for individuals living with a serious mental illness, addictions issues, dual diagnosis, and/or concurrent disorders. Working collaboratively with individuals, family members, team members, treatment team members and other service providers, the incumbent provides services within a supportive housing model, aiming for individual self-sufficiency to encourage the potential for clients to transition to a more independent living situation. This position may be scheduled to work at any of our Residential Programs located at 228 Dundas Street East and/or 490 Sidney Street, as required.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
- Graduate from a college diploma or university degree program in a related discipline (e.g., psychology, social services, addictions, and mental health) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 6 months to 1-year relevant experience providing services to adults who live with a mental illness, a dual diagnosis, and/or concurrent disorder, experience in a community or residential setting preferred.
- Current First Aid and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (FA/CPR) Certification is an asset.
- Current Non Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) is an asset.
- Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is an asset.
- Demonstrated crisis intervention skills/experience.
- Experience with communication, interpersonal, and prioritization skills.
- Experience with crisis intervention, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop therapeutic rapport with individuals living with complex needs.
- Must be able to work independently and interdependently in collaboration with other multidisciplinary team members.
- Basic proficiency in computer skills; MS Office preferred.
- Must possess a valid Ontario Driver's License, have regular access to a reliable vehicle, and provide proof of adequate vehicle insurance.
- Must have a satisfactory driving record free from automobile insurance claims and be able to produce a clean Uncertified Driver's Abstract.
- Required to provide a satisfactory criminal record check (CRC) with vulnerable sector screening prior to hire.
