Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA) / Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLP-A) - Smile4therapy

Smile4Therapy is seeking a compassionate, reliable, and motivated Communicative Disorders Assistant or Speech-Language Pathology Assistant to join our team as an independent contractor.

The successful contractor will provide individual speech and language intervention sessions to children under the supervision and direction of a registered Speech-Language Pathologist.

This position will initially provide coverage for an upcoming team member leave, with the possibility of ongoing contract work based on caseload needs, performance, and availability.

Compensation and Schedule:

• $45 to $65 per billable therapy hour
• Rate based on education, qualifications, pediatric experience, clinical skills, and availability
• Approximately 10 to 20 hours per week, depending on client referrals and contractor availability
• Independent Contractor, Flexible part-time schedule
• Daytime and evening availability preferred
• In-person and virtual service opportunities may be available
• Hours and client referrals are not guaranteed

Responsibilities:

• Provide individual speech and language intervention sessions under the supervision of a registered Speech-Language Pathologist
• Implement treatment plans and clinical recommendations developed by the supervising SLP
• Prepare appropriate therapy activities and materials
• Complete accurate session notes and progress documentation
• Monitor client progress and communicate observations to the supervising SLP
• Communicate professionally and respectfully with parents, caregivers, and team members
• Participate in clinical supervision, case consultations, and team meetings when required
• Maintain client confidentiality and comply with applicable privacy requirements
• Provide current availability to Smile4Therapy’s administrative team
• Smile4Therapy’s administrative team will manage client scheduling, appointment coordination, and related administrative communication.

Qualifications:

• Diploma or degree in Communicative Disorders Assistance, Speech-Language Pathology Assistance, Communication Disorders, or a related field
• Experience working with children in a clinical, educational, developmental, or community setting
• Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently while following an SLP-directed treatment plan
• Ability to complete accurate and timely clinical documentation
• Reliable, professional, and committed to providing high-quality client care

Preferred Experience:

• Experience in one or more of the following areas is considered an asset:
• Pediatric speech and language intervention
• Autism and developmental differences
• Articulation and motor speech
• Receptive and expressive language
• Early language development
• Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)

Social communication:

• Virtual or community-based services
• Independent Contractor Requirements
• The successful contractor must provide:
• A current vulnerable sector check
• Proof of professional and commercial liability insurance
• Proof of relevant education and qualifications
• Reliable transportation when travel is required
• Access to a computer and secure internet connection for documentation and virtual services

• The contractor may provide services to other organizations and may accept or decline assignments based on their availability.
