EVENT STAFF -YGK CRAFT BEER FEST
COMPETITION No: 2022-SLPC-1014
CLASSIFICATION: Fort Henry Guard Level 1
COMPENSATION GROUP: OPSEU Technical
WAGE: $15.01 per hour
PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT: Saturday, June 11, 2022 (Group 1, one-day contract)
HOURS OF WORK: Up to 12 hours

WHAT CAN I EXPECT TO DO IN THIS ROLE?
You will:
• Greet, orient and direct visitors by communicating key event information and health and safety reminders as they enter Fort Henry’s event, YGK Craft Beer Fest.
• Be part of a large events team, rotating between roles including greeter, I.D. checker/bracelet administrator, beer team (assisting vendors) and other operational events roles as needed.
• Assist with congestion of arriving ticket holders; provide direction and critical wayfinding services, as needed.
• Actively listen to visitor feedback while ensuring guest concerns are escalated to the appropriate person or source if unable to resolve directly.
• Ensure a safe and enjoyable guest experience by monitoring your zone and reporting any actual or potential hazards and providing excellent customer service.
HOW DO I QUALIFY?
MANDATORY:
• Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
• Willingness to work long hours for the duration of this one-day event.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position which may include standing for extended periods of time.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
• Knowledge of customer service techniques to provide a superior customer experience.
• Understanding and ability to meet the safety standards required to perform the physical demands of the position and to protect the safety of staff and the public.
• Understanding of tourism and its economic impact.
COMMUNICATION, INTERPERSONAL & TEAMWORK SKILLS:
• Strong verbal communication skills to effectively greet visitors, and articulate information clearly and concisely, and the ability to remain professional and calm in a busy event environment.
• Ability to exercise initiative and work independently with minimal supervision and also in a team environment.
• Ability to communicate with enthusiasm and contribute to maintaining an enjoyable guest and staff experience.
OTHER SKILLS:
• Ability to arrive to work on-time and ready to begin a shift with a positive attitude.
• Ability to learn all safety protocols and procedures to ensure guest and staff safety is always maintained.
• Ability to memorize the key event information and health and safety regulations to communicate with all guests.
