Position Summary 

Permanent full-time Medical Lab Assistant (MLA) position available in Lillooet, B.C. This is a Monday to Friday position. Shifts are 8hr day shifts, between the hours of 07:00 and 17:00.

Steeped in history, culture and tradition, the rural mountain town of Lillooet is located on the unceded territory of the St’at’imc Nation. Known for its semi-desert climate, this area enjoys dry summers and milder winters, with no shortage of exhilarating or relaxing outdoor activities available. Situated amongst spectacular scenery, Lillooet is within easy driving distance of Kamloops, Williams Lake, Whistler and 250km northeast of Vancouver.

This Level 1 Community Hospital offers a 24/7, 5 bed emergency department, 6 inpatient beds in addition to medical, palliative, maternity and part-time operating room. The hospital is co-located with the Mountain View Lodge long-term care facility. The site offers multi-disciplinary allied health and community health services.

The MLA performs a variety of duties within the hospital, such as taking blood samples from patients, preparing blood and other specimens for analysis, performing routine lab tests, distributing specimens within the Core Lab and outside Laboratories, operating related equipment, entering data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and performing related clerical duties. Performs ECG testing as required.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12
  • Successful completion of a recognized Laboratory Assistant training program
  • One year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Valid BC Driver’s License as required
  • Ability to type 25 WPM *please upload a copy of an invigilated typing test dated within the last 48mths. Please note we do not accept self-administered online tests*
